I interviewed four female students out at the university about the state of women's rights in The Gambia for a research paper. As a group they said:
1. Women are still not respected as much as men.
2. Women do need education about their rights.
3. But more importantly, men need to be educated about women's rights and men need to be involved in the process of helping women attain equal status in the political, social, economic, familial, and religious arenas.
4. Women need to be positive role models for each other here in The Gambia and throughout Africa.
